What is Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine has been used for over 2000 years to treat illness and restore good health. It is the origin of modern medicine. Herbal medicine is still a primary source of healthcare for 70% of the world's population, and research has confirmed the therapeutic effectiveness of many traditional plant remedies.

The modern Medical Herbalist is trained in the medical sciences and combines elements of traditional herbal practice with the latest discoveries in scientific research. A holistic approach is taken where treatment is individually tailored to each patient's needs. Western herbal medicine practitioners uses western understanding of health and disease to arrive at an accurate diagnosis and prescription.

Western herbal medicines (phytotherapy) are made from the whole plant resulting in a naturally balanced medicine that are more easily absorbed to treat disease and less likely to cause unwanted side- effects. Herbal medicine is used to support the body's own healing mechanisms in order to restore a balanced state of health. Herbal medicine is effective in the treatment of both chronic and acute conditions.
